Sunday Lunch Series: Courageous Conversations on Racism
The first three steps in Dr. Martin Luther King’s philosophy toward Nonviolent Social Change are: Information Gathering, Education, and Personal Commitment. Our new series on Anti-Racism will facilitate the first two steps – all you have to bring is your own personal commitment. The program we are following was developed by several Master of Divinity candidates at Princeton Theological Seminary. It aims to help participants become allies and eventually accomplices in anti-racist work by working through the following stages of white identity development:
Sessions will take place from 11:45 – 1:00 on six Sundays in the spring (see dates above) and lunch will be provided. We will seek to have lunches catered from Black-owned businesses and are open for recommendations. We ask for a $10.00 contribution to lunch. Each session will be facilitated by a discussion leader from within our group of participants. Please let us know if you would like to lead one of the discussions – no experts needed and materials will be provided. The series will culminate in a “Race Around the Table” dinner. Details TBA.
